Hello
Has anyone used DriveImage7?
I like to change my backup system from a removable HD drive to a external USB drive. For the last year I have been using drive image 2002 succesfully. I read somewhere that if you backup on a USB you need to go to Drive Image vers.7 and I also read that version 7 is not doing well with a machine with two OS installed?
I would appreciate any comments and experiences.

Thanks

That is not 100% accurate, I dual boot Longhorn and XP Pro and I've been using DI7 since it came out and have not had one single problem with it. I am very glad I have it as it's saved my bacon more than once.

I have the automated backup setup, so I really don't have to do anything on my part, it overwrites the older backup but you can set it up to create more than one image file too.

I have never used it to backup to an external drive (USB), so I really can't tell you my experience with that option.

Do not type anything in this space.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

That sounds like a false rumor to me. Drive Image doesn't care what's on the drive, it just takes an image of whatever is there.

Great program!

Thanks for all that
So can you all suggest that it is worth while and that it is doing a good job. So I can buy this in good faith for backing(image)up through USB2.Below the text found in Google search:
"If a fix isn't made available, this limitation needs to be explained on the packaging, on the company's website and in its other publicity material - users with dual-boot systems may otherwise assume, because they've got good back ups, that they'll be able to restore from them - only discovering when an emergency arises that they can't".
Any hints or problems I should be aware of?
So?
Thanks

Version 7 of drive Image might be kinda hard to find. Powerquest was bought out by Symantec a while back. They made Drive Image into their latest version of Ghost, which has received very good reviews.

That image SW at Aceonis needs 20M of disk space.

Sounds a little nuts.

PQDI runs off a floppy.

I use Drive Image 7 to back up my OS on another drive and update it periodically when I make major changes. About six months ago I really screwed up my OS. Popped in the DI disk and laid the backup onto the boot drive. Worked flawlessly. BTW: I have both XP and Win 2000 on my machine, although they are on seperate drives. As someone else mentioned, however. Dive Image doesn't care what it is coppying. It is all 1s and 0s to the program.
