Hello people! I managed to get a new drill bit from B&Q today! Its a 6mm cermaic / glass drill bit. I've tried this on the Pent 1, and although this was a sucess comapred to the normal bits; its still didn't make a hole. What it did do was scratch the surface and create a mini dimple, about 1/4 as deep(and wide) as a gold ball dimple. No wires were exposed. In the process, the almightly new drill bit has blunted to an unrecognisable rounded arrowhead; lovely! Next up will be a grinding bit and a marble drilling bit. (I still am wondering why they made procesors out of something so indestructible, surely this must have increased costs!

A thermic lance will achieve the desired result.

Contact your local safe-cracker who will probably be prepared to lend you his for a small consideration such as a Monopoly Get out of Jail free card.

Good luck - Keep us posted.

BAsed on the thermic lance idea, Ive tried using a blowtorch. Not one of the stupid tiny ones from B&Q, but a nice oxy-acetylene twin tank mofo. The chip just went black... Interesting the heat capacity of this chip, lol.... Ill keep you posted,

Hi Spinal:
The manufactures of chips might use a water jet cutting machine, don't think you'll find a shop that has one for you to try on your CPUs.

Good luck,
