Dreamweaver FTP remote information

Adobe Upg dreamweaver 8 mlp eng cd 1

Specs: Macintosh
I have a question for anyone who can answer...

I am new to Dreamweaver. I have a website hosted
with GoDaddy and all the FTP access information. I
had my site previously created by a friend in
Dreamweaver. He recently sent me the files so I could
manage the site myself, however when I entered the
information into the remote info section under manage
sites it tells me the host cannot be found and a
connection cannot be made. I've checked with
GoDaddy that the information is correct and I can
access my FTP login online. I've tried several ways
to enter the information and I get the same message
every time. Anyone know what I could possibly be
doing wrong?

I have not used Dreamweaver but I have had similar problems with MS Front page. Seems that some FTP servers dont like these inbuilt FTP clients.

You might like to have a look a FileZilla. A free GNU FTP client that was specificaaly designed for uploading web sites to servers. It is far more flexible and gives you more options in maintaining your web site.

Thanks for the info. I will look into it. I'm only confused
because the person who created my site did it in Dreamweaver
and it worked just fine for him, and obviously something I'm
doing is incorrect.

Thanks again
