downgrade firmware?

HI, I have a lite-on 163d or LTD (XJ-HD)-163D. I have upgrade the firmware to the latest (GHR8), however, after I have upgraded, I felt that it's not that great, the dvd rom takes long time to recognize a burned cd and a lot of time, it kinda stuck while reading the cd. I wonder is there ways to downgrade the firmware easily. Thanks.

Sorry, there is no downgrade, what you have to do is try to find out the firmware version that you previous have to see if it is available somewhere for downloading. Then flash one more time to overwrite the current one. Most hardware does not have enough space on the flash to store the previous copy of firmware.

Will that harm my drive? I read somewhere that once you upgrade your firmware, you can't downgrade it (or reflash it again), it will make the drive unusuable.
