hi i had a problem with the cmos battery about a month ago and as directed by the members of this forum i replaced it and figured my computer would be fine now. But it turned on ok for a few days and then wouldn't even turn on. So I put it away(its a notebook) and just took it out after a couple of weeks to see if maybe it would turn on and it did! I dont know what to do. What is wrong with it? It just turns on whenever it wants to and doesn't when it doesn't want to. Pls tell me what to do. And i can't take it to a sony service center b/c im not in the US. Im in pakistan and they don't really deal with the model that i have.

The CMOS battery is not the problem. A computer will still turn on without a CMOS battery. It might not work properly, but at least it will turn on.

I would start looking at the power supply. It seems you have an intermittent fault that might just be down to a lose wire or a poor connection where the power supply plugs into the computer.

Thanks for replying I dont think it is the wire that plugs into the computer b/c its not loose or anything. I think its something inside the computer since whenever i pick up the notebook and put it away and then bring it out after a while it works. I really dont know what to do since I dont have access to any of the parts here. thanks again.

If you don't know what to do, do not expect us to tell you what to do.

The fact of the matter is - You DO have choices to pursue (hint: get another PC with serviceable support in Patistan).
