This is a dinasour laptop I don't know if it has been upgraded or not? But it was given to me.
It is asking for a password and no one <A style="cursor:pointer;" onmouseover="window.status=''; return true" href='http://www1.flexysearch.com/trf_split.php?query=knows '>knows what it could be? Do I wipe the Hard drive? How so if so? I don't know? HELP

... when does the prompt appear?
... are you seeing this prompt when you open internet explorer?
... if so change the "homepage"
http://www.computertips.com/Interne...
... might be an idea to post in win95/98 forum

It goes straight for the password when it turns on. I believe it is a 95, but I only have a 98 disk. I thought I had posted in 95-98...I'm new at this????

onmouseover="window.status=''; return true" href='http://www1.flexysearch.com/trf_split.php?query=knows
... the above is what you see??
... it looks like a web page link to me(?)
... is the above in black and white ie a command prompt?
*************************************************
... do you see the Windows 95 logo first?... try just [pressing enter] <key> if no good
... restart again and press the <Esc> key
... It might be the bios password its asking for!
... try tapping the <Del> key @ bootup... thats the Delete <key> to see if you can enter the bios
... just [press enter] @ this stage
**********************************************
... OR you might already be in Windows and a file has kicked in I suspect from within the file "autoexec.bat".

First, is it asking for a BIOS (power-on) password or a Windows (log-on) password? If it's a BIOS password, removing the battery for a few minutes may (or may not) remove the password as well. If it's looking for a Windows password, then you should be able to wipe the hard drive (with a Windows 95/98 boot disk)...

You can skip step #1 in above if you have a bootdisk.
"Pre-fab" bootdisks can be found here:

... if its a windows password it'll be very easy to bypass without a wipe......
