Doesn't boot/Primary IDE Slave not detected

Hello so my computer hasn't been working for a while now.....windows xp x64 os...every time i boot, it gets to the loading screen, and then after that turns black, doesnt get to the login screen...and resets and boots back up again.........read on...
so i've been basically just using a linux mint 7 disc to just use my computer in that live linux mode where i can still browse the internet....
HOWEVER>
A week ago, now i cant even do that because the Primary IDE Slave isn't detected for some reason, I even replugged everything back in..still not even a new windows 7 installation...doesnt work...
what do I do?

If you are running a live cd, then you are not using the hard disk,

UK MP's are thieving scumbags.
EU members are worse.

hard disk.
