Is it critical for a Pentium MMX CPU running at 233MHz to have a fan. Can I get away with just using a heat sink? The case has two fans in it, one in the power supply and one in the case itself. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

It can get by without a fan but it should have one.

I had a HSF on my 486DX2.

if it is a big heatsink ok but if smaller like 1" than get a fan for it or have a case fan blow onto heatsink

Fans are very inexpensive and worth installing.
