does a pc video display need software to inst

Specs: Windows XP
Device manager has a '?' beside monitor. I've tried to let installation wizard do it, but I keep getting 'can't find the software'. I have the exact same situation with my cd/dvd drive.

You should look for monitor support at the company's web site that made the monitor. Same for the cd/dvd.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

When you click on those items in device manager, what does it say the problem is? You may need to install motherboard chipset drivers or upgrade to sp3 (if you haven't already done so) to fix the cd drive issue.

The monitor is usually not a problem. Is your video card set up OK? What does device manager say under 'display properties'? Can yoiu change the resolution in display properties?
