Do I Want This USB TV Tuner?

I am looking for a TV Tuner for my Win 7 system. Is there any reason I don't want this unit?

It seems like it will do everything I could think of using it for, even converting some old VHS tapes to digital format. I know it won't decode HD channels, but that's OK.

At about $40 w/shipping, it's much cheaper and seems much more featured than some of the Hauppauge USB TV Tuners available.

What don't I know?

Are you located in the USA? If so, analog is pretty much a dead format. Digital is here to stay.

What you want is clear QAM. Even that may not be available for too long. The broadcast industry are trying their best to restrict any free access to TV. See the link below.

Hi Derby, approximately $40 seems a very good price for such a device.

Reading the description, surely the driver should be installed before plugging in the adaptor.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Note that it only works with cable TV, not 'over the air' tv like many of the Hauppage devices so it's not really a 'TV Tuner' in the true sense of the word and may not be what you are looking for.
