My motherboard usb stopped working so Insurance replaced the usb with a usb pci card, since then that motherboard was replaced and the onboard usb's work, so will my computer perform better if I take the usb pci card out, I don't use it since the onboard works, should I just take it out and save incase I need it in the future or just leave it?

if you don't use it, you can take it out. or leave it in if you really wanted to

As 666 suggested, leave it in to avoid misplacing the card. As long as nothing is connected to it, the card is not doing anything.

As long as both the card and on-board ports are USB 2.0 then, as already mentioned, it's up to you. But if the on-board ports are 1.1 and the card is 2.0, I'd leave the card in. Or if the card is 1.1 and the on-board is 2.0, I'd take the card out.

I would leave it in there.

My computer came with USB 1.1 and I added a 2.0 card later.

It is nice to connect the 1.1 devices to the slower USB ports and save the 2.0 ports for newer devices that need 2.0.

Even if all of the ports are the same it still might be useful so that you won't have to buy a hub as quickly.

they are all the 2.0. so think I will just leave so that I will have it for later if something happens.
