Comment: i am going to buy a 2.1 speaker system (i havn't got room for a 4.1 or 5.1) but i would like to get the best sound i can get. i only have onboard C-media sound and i was wondering, if i brought a new sound card, would it make a diffrence? if so, shall i get a 5.1 sound card for my 2.1? thanks

Reply: (edit)If you want the best sound than you should upgrade. Even if you aren't going to use the full 5.1, or even 6.1 or 7.1, output capabilities of a new soundcard uprgrading will give you better sound overall. I would recommend a Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 as it will give much better quality sound than what you currently have. And if you ever find room to put a bigger speaker system than you won't have to get a higher capacity sound card in the future.
