Comment: my psu is okia 420watt max with 18 amps on the +12 rail came w/ my case today at the comp shop where i bought it i came in for a fan grill and told them i was upgrading my celeron 500 to a amd xp 2500 abit nf7s and pc3200 well, they told me that my psu wouldnt take it, they said the psu would be lucky to last a month if it didnt damage anything. They also said that it would cause the nb to heat up extra which i know is very bad. then they suggested a $45 psu that was really heavy and had a load rating of like 200watts, my okia doesnt even have a load rating and it is pretty light so my question is is this bs or do i need a better ps? ^(',')]}~~~:]>

Reply: (edit)Sounds like BS if they're referring to wattage on the +12 line (Watts= Volts x Amps) Your current PS has 18 amp. 12 x 18= 216 Watts (16 watts more than what they are trying to sell you). However, I don't know okia power supplies either. When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!

Reply: (edit)I still dont know though. I have been to these ppls shop 6 or 7 times and we know eachother and they seem friendly, eventhough i suspect they're all crooks anyway. btw the ps is P4 approved but says nothing about amd ^(',')]}~~~:]>

Reply: (edit)If this is a small "mom and pop" store, they usually will not steer you wrong. They can't afford to steer someone wrong with the stiff competition out there. That's not to say that they could be overpriced. I know a place in my home that knows what they're talking about, but would never buy from them due to very steep prices. I like to support the small business local dealers, but within reason (know what I mean?) When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!

Reply: (edit)Exactly! i really want to support these ppl but their prices are soo steep and they only carry stuff with extreme warranty coverage and stuff they can get replaced quickly w/ no questions asked. i think it has 18 amps cuz it says under +12 in the chart 18a does this mean i have 18amps on the +12 rail? ^(',')]}~~~:]>

Reply: (edit)I prefer Antec true power supplies. They run quiet and are very accurate. My mobo monitor has recorded all voltages with quite precise voltages no matter what loads I apply. When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!
