|Apparently you have the gaming version of the dv4000 with the Radeon X700. There were a lot of overheating problems with the dv series but it involved NVIDIA graphics. The dv4000 wasn't included in the class action lawsuit against HP.|
AMD Vision uses an APU (CPU with integrated graphics) rather than a CPU & separate graphics chip. I bought an HP notebook with an AMD A4 APU for my kid for college about a year ago & it works great. No problems with overheating or any other issues.
"It used to be the case that AMD processors ran hotter than Intel"
It really depends on the CPU series. The P4 Prescott "hot potato" was a furnace & was notorious for having heat problems.
