I'm assuming you haven't been fiddling with hard /cdrom drive data cable connections since you flashed.

After you flash the bios, you must either go into the bios and load any kind of default settings, or (usually not necessary, but in your case it may be the only choice) clear the bios/cmos (clears the stored non-default settings)by removing the power to or unplugging the computer, then moving a jumper on the mboard to clear the bios (cmos), then moving it back after, say, 15 minutes. (Restore power or plug back in).You will get a "Cmos Checksum error" or similar message the first boot after clearing the cmos - save bios settings and reboot.

You must do either of these so that the new bios is fully recognized - otherwise you have a jumble of new bios/old bios settings.

You should also set any non-default settings in the bios while you're at at - e.g. P&P operating system if default is No, AGP video if that's what you have and default is PCI, boot order, USB support if off by default, etc.

If you still get a freeze up at the "Update DMI Information" point in the boot, try these:
1. disconnect your hard drive/cdrom drive cables from the mboard, reboot with a bootable floppy in the A drive, and see if you get past the "Update DMI Information" point in the boot.

2.If that doesn't work, temporarily change the way your hard drive(s)/cdrom drive(s) are connected to the computer mboard. e.g.if you have 1 hard drive, 1 cdrom drive connected to the same data cable move the drive connected as slave to connect to the secondary IDE on the mboard as master, changing jumpers on the drives where necessary.

Either of those moves should force the bios to re-configure the DMI information.
If successful, reconnect the IDE cables, or change the drive positions back to where they were, and the DMI should again reset itself correctly.

unfortunately after I updated the bios I changed the HDD and than this problem started. the whole story is that my hdd gave me problems and the bios didn`t recognized it properly (2,1 but the hdd is 4.3) also the bios on my motherboard was a beta version. so I decided to try updating the bios to a release version. after the update it started normally but the hdd still gave me problems so I tried changing the hdd and than I got this message, since than whatever I try nothing gets me past "Update DMI Information". I was thinking in reprogramming the bios by removing it from the board and reprogramming it in a flash programer. A servicer from a computerstore suggested this. What do you think would this solve my problem?
p.s Thank you for the advices :-)

"....bios didn`t recognized it properly (2,1 but the hdd is 4.3"
Obviously that bios is limited to recognizing no more than 2.1 gig - this is a common bug."

Support for your mboard is here (Asus P2L-B) - newest bios update should support drives to 128 gig.
Check manual - you may have to move a jumper to flash the bios - if you didn't when you flashed before, you may still have the original bios.

...........

Try what I suggested above. You should not have to flash your bios just to cure this problem.

What operating system are you using?

"....bios didn`t recognized it properly (2,1 but the hdd is 4.3"

If it was the operating system, not the bios, that couldn't recognize more than 2.1 gig, that is a different matter.
