Distored sound with webcam

my sound is distorted only when using a webcam. I have upgraded the program by unistalling it and reinstalling from scratch, changing cameras and the only time the sound is distorted is when using the webcam with windows live. I tried headphones and it is still distorted but if I watch a video or any other item with sound it comes out fine.

Any ideas?
