compaq 510 (dos).i installed dell window vista operating system and compaq driver given by shopkeeper.laptop runs smoothly generally but often once in a day or in week.it get hang and suddenly one fourth of the screen is displayed.and in that part icons are blurred. when i shut down the laptop and start it again runs smoothly.

If you used OEM disks to install and they are from a different model/brand then the drivers are probably not the correct ones. The model of your computer is not just a Compaq 510. There is a series name and possibly letter prefixes or suffixes in the model number. Download SIW and use it to determine exactly what you have.
