Solved display garbled

Specs: Windows xp, amd 1800+/ 1gb
When displaying the computer start up bios infomation, and Windows XP logo, the text on vdu is garbled up and other characters appear on the screen. The XP logo on start-up has colour runs and is also distorted.

I have reinstalled a clean copy of XP. The problem remains but AFTER Xp has loaded and used the default monitor setup which I can't change, the display appears normal apart from the fact that Windows XP will not allow me to install my adapter driver and will only allow me to use the default monitor settings.

XP is unable to detect my display adapter ( Leadtek Winfast Geforce 6600GT TDH, 128Mb ). I have downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia for the 6600GT display adapter but the set up reports that I do not have that card.

The Bios startup display is still garbled and distorted and only after Windows XP OS has loaded, does the display appear normal and clear with the default monitor settings.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Drivers are for Windows, the boot screen is displayed before Windows is loaded. Either your BIOS is corrupt or your video card is on the way out.

U can borrow another video card or use onboard video to see if the problem disappear.
