I just found out one of the slots for the tv-capture card is broken and so I have to insert it to the one next to it. However, if I place it this way, the tv-capture card is right next to the display card obscuring most of the fan on the display card (I would say about 4/5 of the fan). If I leave the computer case open, would that be ok or would the heat still destroy my display card if I leave the computer on for very long (temperature is also quite high approximately 27 degrees here)? Thanks.

Leaving the case opened always helps if there is heat problem. It should be ok. YOu can always get a 6 inch table fan and put it next to the box.

Have you considered reversing the video card
and the tv capture card, so as to expose the fan better ?

I wonder what'll happen if I do this ?

having the box open makes you accessible to mega dust, I wouldn't recommend that, I know from experience.

Obviously one is an AGP card slot and the other a PCI slot.

Are you sure there is nothing else in the other slots that you can juggle around to make more air room?

If not, you may have to leave the side open for more ventilation, but I would suggest cleaning it on a regular basis in that case.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Vacuums can cause static electricity, which is not good. Try compressed air in a can. Can be purchased wherever computers and components are sold. Well designed cases are meant to have proper air circulation with the case closed. Leaving the cover off could cause some components to actually overheat.
