Okay, I have a Compaq Presario 700US Laptop. I went to bed last night with it on and when I returned in the morning it said Disk Read Error, Press CTRL-ALT-DEL to Restart. Now everytime I turn it boots BIOS then gives me that message.
I've read about fixing the MBR and I believe that would probably do it. Problem being, I can't boot a CD or anything else either. It starts to, but either just ends up giving me the Disk Read Error or just stops doing anything forcing me to restart. Not sure how to fix it if I can't even boot a CD to access DOS.
Any help would be great. Thanks...

UPDATE
************************Okay, so I got the windows CD to boot up but it's not finding my hard drive. Makes sense... Just need to find a way to make it recognize it again.

make sure you have bootable cd
also your cd-rom may be defective
i had the same problem and solved it with installing new cd-rom

I agree with the Wizard. Let it cool down for a while and try it.
