Comment: I am currently in the process of upgrading my computer system, and this is probably a really easy question for everyone out there apart from me that is, If I was to disconnect the Hard Disk Drive from the motherboard would it delete the whole operating system on the computer?

Reply: (edit)when reattaching the cable make sure that you make note of which direction the red stripe is facing. use care not to bend any of the pins.

Reply: (edit)make sure that you make note of which direction the red stripe is facing Actually I never had to worry about the red stripe because most ribbon cables connectors come with key for proper align with hard drives and mobo IDE receptacles. i_XpUser
