I have a dell dimension 2350 and i just bought a new video card it didn't work and some people told me I have to disable the onboard video can someone please explain how I would to about doing this?

When the computer first starts, there is some key combo you can press to get it to boot into BIOS or what dell might call "setup". Typically its a key like "del" or "esc" that will get you into that mode. One of the options in there *may* allow you to turn off the onboard video. It all depends on how dell programmed it. There are 2 things to change

1) Turn off onboard video

2) tell the bios that your graphics card will be in an AGP/PCI slot (whatever the card is you bought). Some motherboards have this option and some dont.

be careful about the options you change in there as it can cause the computer not to work... but there is always the option to reset to "default" settings if the computer misbehaves afterwards. Make sure to save the changes after you've made them

You May also go rite clik my comp/property/device mgr/display adapters/and high lite the onboard video/propertys/disable in this device
