I just picked up an Audigy gamer, and I plugged 'er in. The A7V333 has onboard CMedia sound (which Im sick of). I looked through the bios first- nothing. Then I grabbed my manual- Nothing. Then I tried searching online- Nothing.
No where can I find out how to disable the onboard CMedia sound.
I'm thinking jumpers ?
Thanks in advance,
- Sean

Since you cannot find any option in your BIOS to disable , or any jumper changing option , how about disabling the onboard sound in device manager ? On my system when I installed a sound card it did have a option for disabling the onboard sound in the BIOS ! However when I installed a video card , there was no option in the BIOS for disabling the onboard graphics. I disabled it in device manager under display adapters and system devices .Perhaps the same will work with the sound .Do not try and remove via device manager , your system will only detect the device on every bootup and prompt you to reinstall it, disable only ! Good Luck ,Nick

After I posted my reply to your ? , i noticed you have XP Pro ! I have no exprience with this O/S . however just from a little poking around I've done at computer stores on PC's loaded with XP, I believe I remember some kind of Hardware Manager Utility ? Correct me if Iam wrong . Iam not sure what the interface of the device manager in XP is like. Nick

Hi Sean.
If there is a jumper for the on-board sound it should be mentioned somewhere in your manual. Strange that there's no disabling option in the BIOS. You can remove it in Device Manager, but it might come back on re-boot. If it does come back, just disable it in Device Manager and install drivers for your new card. A bit of an untidy method, but I've done it that way a few times.

im using the same motherboard as you and it does have a jumper to disable the onboard sound, in the manual go to pg.28 and the you see where the jumper is at.
jumper setting are:
1-2 enabled(default)
2-3 disabled
