Disabled Floppy Disk Drive

CPU/Ram: 1.79GHZ 256MB

My floppy disk drive is disabled in CMOS setup, and I can't re-enable it. It's darked out and when I click the up or down arrow, it jumps over the option to disable/re-enable it. The IDE cable is connected correctly.

I don't want to flash the BIOS unless I really have to. Having a disabled/broken floppy drive makes that a bit harder... (I'm assuming that the CMOS setup is the problem.)

If you are certain the cable and connection is OK I would have thought a faulty floppy drive is more likely than a CMOS setup problem.

Did the floppy just suddenly stop working?

You mean the floppy cable is connected correctly?

Make sure the floppy controller is enabled in cmos.
