Hello! I have an HP pavilion 6330, and nothing

routed through the ISA bus seems to work, although

the device manager in windows not only recognizes

them, but claims these ISA devices are , indeed

working..this includes not only the onboard sound,

but the ISA slots themseves, the parallel and

serial ports, and (beleive it or not!) the onboard

USB ports..

I've managed to get around this by installing PCI

cards for USB and a PCI soundcard (as well as a

Radeon graphics card, though the onboard video did

work), and disabling the original ones in device

manager, but I'd rather disable them in the bios to

stop from continually having windows98 try to

activate the 'new hardware wizard' if something

isn't disabled in device manager (thru install

progs. etc. that reenable these things- yes it

happens!)

The soundcard in particular (a Creative SB128 PCI

57xx something or other) is problematic as it gives

me 'cannot load midi wavefile' error messages every

bootup..i don't know if it's a buggy card or if the

onboard sound needs disabling in the BIOS...but i

cant find any place in the bios to disable either

the onboard USB, sound, or video -

Anyone know where these settings are,and how to

disable them, or what might cause the ISA bus to be

dead, or the Soundcard etc....or have any ideas

here?

Thanx muchly!! Dominicus
