Hi, my on-board display went bad, but I have an ISA VGA Video Card. I'm assuming you have to disable the on-board display before putting in the card. There are no DIP switches-at least from what I can see without taking everything apart. There are about 10 jumpers though. System: IBM PS/ValuePoint, 486SX-25, Type 6384, Model F20. Any help appreciated!

You can be sure that on of those jumpers is to disable the on-board video, however which one only the manual will tell you. Unless of you are lucky and look close on the motherboard it might be marked. Somebody with knowledge of computer hardware could look at the board and make and educated guess at to which one it is based on where it is on the motherboard.
Having said that, you may find the ISA card will work fine along side the on-board video. The only problem is that the on board video may still be taking up resource's.
The only time it is absolutely essential to disable on-board video is when you are installing an AGP card and your computer definitely doesn't have and AGP slot.

Thanks, maybe I'll try just putting in the card and see what happens.

Summary: Hi Sean. If there is a jumper for the on-board sound it should be mentioned somewhere in your manual. Strange that there's no disabling option in the BIOS. You can remove it in Device Manager, but it ...
