Hey guys.
I am looking to purchase a 3D card for some last-gen PC gaming. I was looking at the new, soon to be released DX10 NVidia cards that run for around $100.
If I intend to stick with XP (DX9) would it be in my best interest to get a DX10 card anyway? Isn't the basic architecture on these cards more efficient than that of the DX9 series of cards?

You may get some additional functionality, but mostly, I think, you will just get increased clock & memory performance. I would only get a DX10 card for an XP machine IF I was planning to upgrade to Vista in the near future.

From what Nvidia says the 8600GS should preform on par with the current 7900GT in shader intense games and about equal over all to the old 7800GT, the 8500GT is expected to pair next to the 7600GT speed wise.
