I have a couple computers scattered around my house. I also have the DirecTV DSL service, but that is only running on one of my computers. I want to release the full potential of my DSL payment and connect all three computers. Well, the problem is that the layout of my house is not that good. I have 3 desktops in 3 different rooms in a 2 story house. The main one is downstairs and my other ones are upstairs. I am using the Gateway that they provided me with the one downstairs. Becuase of the layout of my house, I cannot network them together. Is there another DSL gateway that I can buy to use it for getting DSL upstairs? Also, the phone number that I'm using for DSL is in all three rooms that those desktops are in.

Have you considered shelling out for wireless networking?

Get a router. Run the wires. Through the
ceiling. Out the windows. Down the stairs.

I don't think you can get another DSL on
the phone line. Anyway they will charge yo
for the additional service.

No real cheap way. But router and cables
should not cost over 100 dollars.

Yes, I'm afraid it's out of mine too! :-[
I had to do exacly what tech-fred suggested. It was a hassle, but gave a nice feeling of accomplishment when I was finished... plus I had to smile at all the money I saved.
Take a real close look into corners and under furniture/carpet. Hopefully you find a way to route the cables that won't be too difficult.
good luck

100 feet Cat5 cable for $12, a router for $60, a cable running help buddy $12 (mcdonalds) and some time. i am sure you can do it. I ran my networking line under the carpet, out the window, over the roof and down a pipe to get it to 2 first floor computers. My kitchen is now net ready. Do it my friend you will feel good about it after.
