Specs: Windows 7
Hi Desperadoss!!
Symptoms -green led [power on OK )/or blue led bar lit up fan OK no video output black screen
Cause is nvidia chip gpu defect on motherboard needs a re-flow
Did mine with a dewalt heat gun set on 3/4 settings for ONLY minutes max at height of 4 to 5 cms moving constantly to give uniform heat application
Any longer and u will overheat possibly overheat the solder ball underneath the chip causing solder runoff ruining the board and burning surrounding large capacitors(recommend u shield all plastic connectors and caps with a First layer of alum foil/baking foil -cut ot gpu rect using a pen/pencil tip
1.Remove cpu fan assembly metal heatshield for gpu and northbridgechip
2.Unfold a metal protection strip from an old Lemo/coke tin (use strong scissors or proper tin snips etc )to protect surrounding from strong heat effects mobo cut out a rectangular 5mm larger than the gpu chip
3.Have a timer with a second counter -no more than 2 minutes -if cautious try 1and half minutes as a first attempt it might work of course will need a heat gun -if unsure of setting settle for half of max - betterb 2 attempts rather than wreck the board
There are tutorials on reflowing laptop boards gpu with nvidia gpu defect on the internet if u want to research more before attempting this fix.
The Slimline had been hibernating as an exp dustbug for 2 years before I came across a posting steering me to the problem then decided (have fixed many Laptops ) to have a go
If can afford get a pro to reball the gpu if u are not tech savvy might be worth it -ewn board is possiblity but it will prob be a refurb thats had the same treatment
