My sister has a problem with Direct TV cutting off her dialup internet connection. She says that Direct TV told her to get a filter. But she has a 56k modem. Do they make filters for phone lines to protect against interference from Direct TV? She said that they told her to call Verizon about the problem. Thanks for advance for any help.

The DirectTV box is trying to dial out for some reason. Tell her to disconnect the DirectTV box from the phone line. She might loose some of the DirectTV options for automatic selecting of programs using the remote.

Thanks for the replies. Could be in the phone lines, so says Verizon. Could be a mechanical issue with the DirectTv modem they say also. I am just waiting to hear back from her. Thanks again.

It's not a phone line problem. The problem is that two users cannot use the phone line at the same time. If she is online and the DirectTV box attempts to dial out, that will cause both to fail.
