Hi i was wondering if anyone could provide me with some help..ive been experiencing a problem with my direct3d capabilities... i have a nvidia ge force 2 400 MX which has direct 3d capabilities..when i ran my dxdiag.exe to check why my games werent working i noticed the direct 3d 7 interface tests fail... direct3D 7 test results: failure at step 8 (creating 3D device): HRESULT = 0x80004005 (generic failure) direct3D 8 test results: failure at step 8 (creating 3D device) : HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code) direct3D 9 test results: failure at step 9 (creating 3D device) : HRESULT = 0x8876086c (error code) there are no problems itself with the graphics card it is working properly and there are no conflicts any help would be appreciated .. ive tried reinstalling direct x8 and 9 .. im at an ends with this and i fear i coulod go mad no games ahhhhhhhhhhh help

i had exactly that problem and set of error messages. solution: i installed the drivers that came with my motherboard and then the d3d(7,8,9) tests and games ran just fine. this wasn't necessary when i had winxp, but i had to do it when i went back to win98. my specs: win98 SE dx 9.0 athlon xp 2000+ 256mb ram gf4 mx 440 64mb
