Dim laptop monitor

Specs: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, 2 GHz / 1917 MB
I have a Dell laptop, which monitor went
almost black. I was barely able to see
anything on it, so I decided to replace the
screen and the inverter. After doing so the
screen was dim, and I tried to adjust the
brightness settings but it had no effect in
either brightening or darkening. I got the idea
to plug the laptop to my desktop monitor. The
display worked fine on the desktop monitor. I'm
not sure what the issue is here. I tried
downloading drivers and still no solutions. Any

You replaced the screen & inverter? Make sure your display brightness settings are correct. You can do that in the BIOS, and set ON AC and ON BATTERY LCD settings. Or press Fn+UP ARROW to increase brightness levels.

Was that a new screen or used screen?
