i have an old IBM PC330-P90 and i was using it's memory slots to test many old pairs of SIMMs i have to see what sizes i have. I finished testing a pair of 8mb sticks, put another pair of unknown size in, nothing. no keyboard responce, no POST, no beeping, nothing. I put the origianl sticks back in, still nothing. did i kill it? already tried a differant CPU. it has been used for this purpose berfore and worked fine. what's going on? did i just kill my first computer and testing machine?

correction: i get a POST beep code when there is no RAM in the system. i looked it up and it is the RAM error POST beep code. but it is seemingly dead when i put RAM in it, even RAM which works in a differant SIMM P1 system. any ideas??

Memory slots may be worn out.

You can try to clean them with some rubbing alcohol.

Not if there is NO power to the MOBO when you do this and the rails are dry before you power up again.

Your testing simms, first of all, you said your testing simms and you tried some unknowns. With simms, they have to match. I don't think you destroyed the board but I could be wrong. I would suggest cleaning with a can of compressed air first and the alcohol second, odds are if your testing simms, the simms and board are old so they might have dust on them that you didn't see beforehand.

After that, um, let me think.
