Hi,
Got myself an old HDD i'm going to use in a small spec pc. Just want to know if there is any way to test how reliable it might be, whether it may fail any time soon. Any software out there that people can reccommend???

Look to the drive manufacturer's web site for diagnostic tools.
Rule #1 Good computers don't go down. Rule #2 There is no such thing as a good computer.

I agree with Rick to use the manufacturer's diagnostic tools to check the current condition of the drive But there is no way to predict future failures.

SiGuardian can predict when the HDD will fail, provided SMART is enabled in Bios and HDD is supported and size > 10GB. http://www.siguardian.com/products/products.html

Yes, don't bother with commercial tools - they just rely on generic testing & reading the SMART info which is available for free if the mobo supports it. Go to the manufacturer's website.
