what is a good all around computer diag software that will test everything from ram to registry to hard drives etc..

Two programs I know of will give you all the info you need on your hardware. One is called AIDA32 and the other is EVEREST Home Edition. Both can be found doing a search.

Neither of the above applications will actually test the hardware, just tell you what you have and technical information about it.

If you want to test hardware you are going to have to get individual applications for the hardware you wish to test.

Memtest86 is the best thing for memory.

Drive diagnostics from the hard drive manufacture for the hard drive.

As for registry checkers, steer clear of them, most of them are snake oil.
