You're becoming a real pain in the ass! You're posting in several different forums (gaming, CPU, hardware) about the same issues...all your questions have already been answered in the gaming forum. I have no doubt that you've bitten off more than you can chew & we're gonna be inundated with questions when you actually start putting this thing together.

http://www.computing.net/gaming/wwwboard/forum/6539.html

1. If you only install one stick of RAM, you cannot run in dual channel mode. Either get 2 x 512MB, or 2 x 1GB (PC3200 w/CAS 2.5)

2. Go to the DFI website, find your board, & find the list of recommended RAM modules.

3. While you're there, download a copy of the manual. DFI boards have the most complicated BIOS there is...I suggest you familiarize yourself with it ahead of time.

4. The DFI-Street website is an excellent site for info on DFI boards & overclocking. I suggest you spend some time reading things over. The fact that you wrote "i checked out dfi street but wow waht a waste of time" is NOT encouraging. Like I said above, I think you've bitten off more than you can chew.

After reading those posts you are wasting our time and probably yours as well. Pay someone to put this together before you blow it up and end up with a doorstop and a girlfriend who's down $300.

Gatsu,

I'm really disappointed at your comments in this thread, it's like a sudden 360° demeanor departure from your initial inquiries.

No doubt you are either a little kid or an immature adult, it's a crazy world we live in, cultivating a habit of making insolent remarks like that and you risk doing yourself more harm than good.

If I recall, you said you have a job that pays $11.00/hr, I'm sure you keep it by consistently showing up and not being tardy, does that mean you don't have a life by doing that instead of being irresponsible ?.

As with any public forum, there's bound to be frictions and disagreements every now and then (we've all been there), but you need to choose your battles and enemies wisely if you want to last long and remain unscathed.

By now, I'm sure you've already offended a few contributors by your unwarranted insults and you may think about making amends (it doesn't make you less of a person) by apologizing.

Personally, I'm not responding to any of your threads unless I see a sign of remorse in your reply, furthermore; any more scurrilous responses from you and I will ask the moderator to ban you.

that would be awsome but this site obviuosly has no way of canceling an account...and please if you want to feed me that sunday school internet safety stuff then spote it elsewhere.

Not to mention....you really think making threats on a forum is gonna make somebody scared....you threaten me like 3 times....but i dont care...im hot tempered...only becuase he called me an ass....how was i being an ass when i only want to know about something....

Sorry if learning was a crime....i was a little out of line...i know but im hot tempered and i really get tiked when some one insults me even the slightest...i appologize to you sabertooth. but ill never post here again...just thought id make one last reply to your post....take care

PS: Jam was out of line to begin with...i did nothing wrong. but afetr he called me that then i went off....all i was doin was postin a simple question...not like you have to reply....and if pepole would read carefully its not even the same post....overclocking is diffrent then asking a question about a mobo.

thats all i wanted to say...i was never much of a forum person anyways....i never could take the slightest insult.....eh anyways....have a good night all....please cancel my account i really dont care....

"i havent posted here in like 4 monthes"

You're making yourself look even worse by making comments like that. All someone has to do is scroll thru the CPU or Gaming forum & find your recent posts...or check the links in responses #7, 8, & 9.

"Jam was out of line to begin with...i did nothing wrong. but afetr he called me that then i went off...."

If you knew how to "interprate waht i said", you'd realize that I did NOT call YOU an ass. I was commenting on the fact that you are re-asking questions that have already been asked & answered.

And I also stated my opinion that based on the questions you're asking, you're in way over your head. When you actually start building, we're gonna be in for a flood of more questions because it doesn't appear you have any knowledge of the hardware you're gonna be getting.

FYI, DFI currently makes the best performing boards available for the S939 platform, & their BIOS is more complex than any you've probably run into before. And if you don't get the BIOS settings right, all you're gonna have is an expensive system that runs like crap. Much of the info you need to know is discussed in-depth at the DFI-Street site, but since you said their site is a waste of time, my guess is you don't understand what's being discussed. The A64/Opteron with it's onboard memory controller & HyperTransport bus is different than anything you've ever worked with before. You should be reading up your system instead of relying on answers from people in these forums. Had you done your homework, you'd know what RAM to get, you'd know which boards support the X2, & you'd know how to overclock your CPU.

Part of maturity is not blaming others for YOUR behavior. I hope you get there soon.
