/dev/fb: Permission denied - xtern only

May 9, 2009 at 14:31:49
Specs: SunOS 5.8
Login automatically starts the .login script which starts the X server and brings up an application whixh uses /dev/fb. This works fine for console logins only. I want to bring the same functionality on an xterm login. The problem I get is:
/devices/SUNW,ffb@1e,0: No such file or directory
ffb0: No such file or directory

/devices/SUNW,ffb@1e,0: No such file or directory
Graphics Adapter device /devices/SUNW,ffb@1e,0 is of unknown type

Fatal server error:
InitOutput: Error loading module for /devices/SUNW,ffb@1e,0

giving up.
xinit: Connection refused (errno 146): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.

How can I resolve this?

Thank you,
