Specs: Windows XP, quad core intel/2g ram
G'day all, I need to make a rs232 cable for the roland dxy990 plotter. I made one according to the roland manual, however it does not work. I will provide the pinout that I used to wire the D9 (F) to a D25(M) __ computer to plotter lead. If needed. It has 3 different layouts. I used the layout for a PC AT computer. There is another layout for PC XT. and Apple II.

Hope someone can assist.

Look at the link below. They should be able to fix you up.

Thank you for your link. The only problem with purchasing one ready made from the US of A. is the price of shipping. That's why I would rather wire one up myself.

As an old bloke, I cannot afford too much... :-)

Thank you again,

If you live in the UK or anywhere in Europe you do not have to import from the USA. You can all kinds of cable here for a minimal of shipping.

If you are anything like me, I gave up making my own cables sometime ago. The eyesight is not up to it any more.

Arw you sure the dip switches are set properly? What kind of serial port are you using? The Roland connections are supposedly the same as the HP 7475.

Hi all, sorry about the delay. I had an old friend call in for a visit a week or so ago. He has used one of these devices and was able to demonstrate that I had indeed made the lead correctly. We also found that it is the software that I am using that will not work. The plotter works under Windows software but not under the old DOS based program that I would love to keep using.
A sincere thanks to all who took the time and effort to help and advise me these last few weeks. It has been really appreciated.

Kind regards to all.
