Well how about you provide some information about the system Such as whether it is a laptop or desktop. Is is a name-brand system or a custombuilt? Do you know the make/model of the motherboard? Is the sound card integrated or a separate PCI card? There are some programs available that claim to identify hardware but they usually rely on accessing the relevant driver to do so. One presumes since you are trying to detect the sound-card that you have not installed any drivers for it.
