Do you have a source button on your monitor? Check to see if perhaps the monitor is trying to turn on using the wrong source. Also make sure that the video card and monitor plugs are both connected securely.
Do you have a good working monitor you can use to test the video connection. If a good monitor does the same thing, then your video connection might be fried. Do you have a separate video card, or are you connected to the video port on your motherboard?
