Solved deskjet 3050 j610 will scan but not print

May 13, 2013 at 10:08:47
Specs: Windows 7
I have two pcs running Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 7 Home Premium on a Home network.
The Ultimate pc is connected Wi-Fi and scans and prints fine. The Home Premium pc is connected by USB cable and scans OK but will not print.
If I try to print a document from the Home pc selecting the USB option the printer icon comes up in the system tray but no printing takes place. Mousing over the icon shows 0 documents pending.
I have uninstalled all HP Software and re-installed twice to no avail and I have done a Repair install of Windows 7 Home Premium also to no avail.
Any help will be appreciated.

On the problem PC (the Home Premium PC) make sure the "Print Spooler" service is set to "Automatic" and shows as "Started" for the Service Status.

To examine the list of services and their status, click Start > Run

Type services.msc and press <Enter>.

✔ Best Answer
Since printer queue shows "no documents pending" it does seem to be a Print Spooler problem on the PC. Obviously the printer itself is okay since it works when printing to it from your wireless PC.

The print job is not being "spooled" or buffered by the computer, so there's no data being sent to the printer. Try stopping the Print Spooler service, then restart Windows and try printing again.

Hi Phil,
I marked your answer "Best" because you put me onto the solution.
I went into Advanced the Printer settings, de-selected "Spool print documents" and selected "Print direct to Printer" and now it prints OK.
Thanks very much.
