Dell Studio laptop is beeping continuously

Specs: Windows 7

I accidently dropped my Dell Studio laptop and now it's beeping continuously when I turn it on. It won't boot up, and I don't know what to do. I could get a new one, but there are a lot of files I don't want to lose that are on there. What should I do?

If you have access to another PC or laptop, buy a 2.5-inch external drive enclosure and fit your laptop's hard drive into it, then plug the enclosure into a mains socket and then into a usb port on the borrowed computer/laptop.

If your laptop drive cannot be accessed, it may have failed by being dropped. The only way data can rescued from it in that case is by taking it to a data recovery company, but that is very expensive.

You should never have kept all your stuff on just one hard drive as they can fail at any time, even without being dropped. Backing up is so easy to do, yet it amazes me that people just don't bother worrying about their data until disaster strikes -- it's too late then!

Thanks for the suggestion! I actually took it in to Dell today, and apparently the hard drive's busted. My laptop actually came with a subscription to Dell Datasafe Online, and I backed it up every Friday, but I was too lazy to bother figuring out how to actually access the back up in case my hard drive did fail. I guess I've learned my lesson the hard way...anyways, thanks for responding to the post!
