My XPS laptop had an error upon starting that indicated the DVD-CD burner/player was not functioning. Since It was easier to send me a replacement instead of me sending in the laptop, I received the new DVD/CD rom but don't know enough about them to know if they gave me a comparable one to what I had.
The specs for the old one is here: HLDS GSA-T21N 8X DVD±RW http://support.dell.com/support/edo...
The new one is here: Optiarc AD-5560A Slim DVD±RW http://support.dell.com/support/edo...
Anyone know if I received a comparable one or not?
Thanks in advance, Gail

Looks like the old one is slightly better.

close enough, though, it looks like the drives both have the same functionality and spin speeds. it's not like they are trying to rip you off or anything.

if they sent you different RAM or something, i'd worry, but for the most part, laptop optical drives are laptop optical drives.
