My XPS laptop had an error upon starting that indicated the DVD-CD burner/player was not functioning. Since It was easier to send me a replacement instead of me sending in the laptop, I received the new DVD/CD rom but don't know enough about them to know if they gave me a comparable one to what I had. The specs for the old one is here: HLDS GSA-T21N 8X DVD±RW http://support.dell.com/support/edo... The new one is here: Optiarc AD-5560A Slim DVD±RW http://support.dell.com/support/edo... Anyone know if I received a comparable one or not? Thanks in advance, Gail

if they sent you different RAM or something, i'd worry, but for the most part, laptop optical drives are laptop optical drives.
