Does anyone know if there's truth to what i hear about Dell RAM not working in any other machine? i have 256MB of it and i don't want to put it in my new machine cause 1) i hear it won't work and 2) i don't know if by "won't work" it means "blow my computer up"!

I've never heard of such a thing. I've added generic RAM to a number of Dell machines without incident. RAM is RAM is RAM -- unless you're an overclocker!

Dell uses decent ram. The only trouble I have had is trying to use some really cheap stuff in a Dell.

i was a bit sceptical when i heard it but then when i bought a new motherboard i needed a new case cause it was too big and the heatsink was too big for the new motherboard too. it just didn't seem too suprising after all that. thanks!
