Dell Precision m6300 slow XP Start up

Specs: Windows XP, 256
The taskbar on startup takes a really long time before I can click on the start icon, or really, any icon for that matter. The mouse moves around fine and the desktop icons are accessible, however, you cannot close them for the mouse will not click anything. It will just remain open. Is this common? This is a brand new Dell Precision m6300. Oh, and after about 100 repeated clicks, the mouse suddenly works on tabs and such.

How much actual RAM (memory) IS in there MaxRig? Your post says 256 Mb. If THAT's the case...that machine should have at least 1-2+ Gb of RAM in it.

You can also run the built in Dell Diagnostics from the BOOT ROM by pressing F12 at POST, or better yet run it from the Dell Diagnostics & Utilites DVD/CD to test your hardware.

Just another stupid saying...
