I am having some problems with my Dell Optiplex GX110. As soon as I turn it on I hear a small, dit noise, from the speaker then it boots a little further, past the bios screen. It is not a full beep just a very quick dit noise. Then it boots to the point where the hard-drive is accessed. Then just quits responding. I tried the hard-drive on both onboard controllers and on a PCI Promise Tech. Ultra66 controller card. I tried the harddrive on both ports on that and it still stalls out at that point. It is not a complete freeze up though, because you can still hit num-lock on and off. I updated the bios as well to A09. I even reset the CMOS back to default by removal of the battery, still nothing, any suggestions, any at all would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Shane

Did this problem start before you updated the BIOS or after? Is the CMOS setup correct? And last, do you have another HD you can try? Post back to us here.

This problem occured before and after the bios upgrade. The CMOS seems correct, and I tried two hard-drives. I just can't figure what the problem is. I would like to get it going but I don't know what to do next. Thanks!

You bought a Dell? and now it won't boot? GO FIGURE?!?!

P.S. Is it detecting your HDD in the BIOS? Try manually setting the perameters, I've seen mobo's that don't take kindly to the 'auto' setting.

Well, I tried a third hard-drive and that worked perfectly. The two I tried I know are good but it does absolutely nothing. I guess the computer is not compatible with these types of drives. Oh well, I got one that is working, thanks for the advice guys.
