Had an older gentleman call me and ask me to come over and look at his computer it's a Dell (don't know the model yet). He says he can't turn it on because the power button is stuck in like there is a spring or something broke inside. Won't see him till Tuesday, I have never tried to troubleshoot/replace one of those. Can one be bought somewhere and how is it removed/replaced?

Is it a deskpro desktop ?? You have to remove the cover then the front cover to gain access to it and there should be 2 wires to it Just unclip them and remove the button and replace it You may be able to just replace the spring if this is the prob.

Here's what I found. Took the face off and found that the power button is just a piece of plastic that is attached to the face at the top of the plastic button and then swings as if hinged at the top when it's pushed and a stem pointing to the back of the computer pushes the actual on/off button. The plastic button had broken off where it was attached to the face of the computer. I superglued it back on where it had been attached. It seems to be working. Explained to the man what I had done asked him to be gentle and told him to call if it breaks again and we'll try something else.
