Im trying to put a third hard drive into my dell. But it wont detect anything on the second channel. With my current setup I have 2 hard drives in the 1st ide channel, and nothing on the second. If i plug in the third hard drive to the second channel, with the jumpers set right and everything, it doesnt show up in Bios. THe only option in bios i can find is Secondary Drive 0 and Drive 1, which are set on auto. THe other option is just off. I switched my current slave drive over to the second channel to see if it would work and it didnt show up either. Does anyone know what to do? Thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert on DELLs but in standard computers there is sometimes an option to enable/disable the secondary controller. In standard computers this is usually listed under another page in the BIOS. If you can find a setting similar to this it may fix your problem

What are the jumper settings on the third drive (Secondary Master, I assume?)

Hi, Some CS cables do not recognize Master/Slave. If the connectors are color coded then Blue is MB, Black is Master (C:) and Grey is Slave (D:) etc. Both drives are to be set to CS (Cable Select). If no color coding then MASTER and SLAVE. Master is C:. Good Luck, Jim
