Comment: Hi, I purchased an intel motherboard off ebay and when it arrived ...It's a Dell??? I am trying to find out what type of power suppy I need for it and where I can find the on/off switch for the front panel. It looks like an atx but I have been told some dells use an AT with an atx plug and others an actual atx. HMMM I have looked all over the board for a model number thinking a call to Dell might work. They have no clue where the model number is located. Just where the order a new dell dept is at. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Reply: (edit)Hi, Dell spares will be expensive compared with elsewhere. You can use a standard ATX power supply with an adapter to convert the pin outs to suit the Dell motherboard or install a PSU designed to connect to a Dell motherboard.. All you need is available at this site. http://www.pcpowercooling.com/home.htm hth Ceri

Reply: (edit)you are correct to be very careful in selecting the power supply. for a period of time dell used a connector that looked like atx but was not. using the improper power supply will cause significant damage. try going to intel with the numbers from the chipset and socket type for board identification.

Reply: (edit)Some Dell computers do have proprietary PSU's, others as many have found to the cost of their motherboard and processors do not. If your machine is on the orignal Dell O.E.M PSU then you have no reason to be worried. If you need to uprate the PSU then the choices are a great deal more limited. The site I gave a link to, can supply an adapter to change the pin-outs from a standard PSU to that for a Dell motherboard. Ceri

Reply: (edit)Thank you all, I have book marked the site and will also see about going to Intel. Ebay.....Well it is buyer beware! I too sell on Ebay.....won't say what or give my seller ID. Not here for sales. Just help...LOL! I too agree the seller should have mentioned that it was a Dell. I guess I will be learning about Dells. Can put a at or atx together in minutes but a dell....this has been months...lol! Hope I will have an answer for another member and can contribute to this forum in the near furture. Thank you all again, World Library
