NTLDR is missing means the there is a problem With Widows XP and it cannot boot. To Fix it you are going to need an Windows XP CD. Did one come with the computer?

What happens when you press nothing and just let it get on with it?

When you go into set-up is the hard disk shown as being present and operational?

Did it ever boot since you acquired the computer?

I am really a big believer in formatting the drive and reinstalling the OS of any used computer. "bought a dell latitude ls at a ND hand store". does this mean its used??
